Defeat the #TrumpTaxScam: Call Rep. Gosar now

This week, Republicans are putting the pedal to the metal on the Trump Tax Scam. And, believe it or not, Representative Gosar could be a key vote.

Republicans are nearly finished passing the budget resolution, which is the first step to unlocking the rules of reconciliation. House leadership has even decided to pass the Senate version of the budget reconciliation to limit debate in the House and speed up the process.

But here’s the thing: The Senate budget resolution the House is considering adds $1.5 TRILLION (not million or billion, YES, trillion) to the deficit. And you know who has spent his career in Congress decrying deficits as the greatest threat to America? Your Member of Congress, Rep. Gosar.

Well, it’s time for Rep. Gosar to put his money where his mouth is. Does he oppose deficits or not? Tell Representative Gosar to keep his word on deficits: call the Capitol Switchboard at (202)224-3121 (on your cell phone, just click the phone number and you should be prompted to call!) and, when connected, ask for Rep. Gosar.

Here’s a sample call script:

You/The Caller: Hello! Can you please tell me how Representative Gosar will vote on the budget resolution when the House votes this Thursday?

If the MoC opposes the budget resolution

Staffer: The Representative intends to oppose the budget resolution because it adds $1.5 trillion to the deficit. That’s not what the people of our state sent him to Washington to do.

You: Thank you. I’m opposed to the budget resolution and I’m glad the Representative is too.

If the MoC supports the budget resolution

Staffer: The Representative intends to support the budget resolution because it is the first step in passing tax reform. We need tax reform to get our country growing again.

You: That’s terrible. The budget resolution adds $1.5 trillion to the deficit. Representative Gosar has spent years talking about what a problem the deficit is but I guess now he’s changed his mind. I can see now that Rep. Gosar’s word means nothing.

Staffer: The growth that results from reforming our tax code will more than make up for the $1.5 trillion added to the deficit on a static basis.

You: That’s not true and there is no historical evidence to support that. Please tell the Representative I’m very disappointed in his vote and I won’t soon forget.

If the MoC “isn’t sure”

Staffer: The Representative hasn’t made a decision yet.

You: That’s terrible. The budget resolution adds $1.5 trillion to the deficit. Rep. Gosar has spent years talking about what a problem the deficit is. If he supports the budget resolution, it will be clear to all of his constituents that Rep. Gosar’s word means nothing.

Staffer: The growth that results from reforming our tax code will more than make up for the $1.5 trillion added to the deficit on a static basis.

You: That’s not true and there is no historical evidence to support that. Please tell my Representative that I am watching this vote closely and I expect him to oppose the budget resolution on Thursday.

We know we don’t normally target Rep. Gosar because, frankly, he’s a member of the highly-secretive Freedom Caucus. He doesn’t agree with us on much, if anything, but with constituent pressure we might be able to make him feel the heat and vote the right way this time.

Thanks for all you do. Now let’s stop the #TrumpTaxScam together!

In solidarity,
The Indivisible Team
