Arizona’s CAA needs our help to resist this latest proposed rule change that would adversely affect green card applicants and their families. Their recently issued statement says:

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has proposed a change to the ‘public charge’ test. If this proposal is enacted, green card applicants would be penalized for accessing critical services that keep their families healthy and safe, including Medicaid, Medicare Part D prescription subsidies, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and federal housing assistance.

“According to DHS itself, implementing this rule will lead to more uninsured Arizona children who are malnourished and at risk of homelessness, greater public health risks, higher poverty rates, and lower productivity in the American economy.

“This proposal runs counter to our American values of family, freedom, and equal opportunity for all to achieve their dreams.  The consequences will hurt our communities and our state. Children’s Action Alliance urges Arizonans to submit comments about the proposed changes to the administration during the public comment period,
which ends December 10, 2018.”
