ACLU of Arizona has announced the introduction of HB2625 – the Statewide Nondiscrimination Act. Sponsored by Rep. Oscar De Los Santos (LD 11), HB2625 would provide LGBTQ+ Arizonans the same protections that are provided to all in the state by including language such as “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” in Arizona’s existing nondiscrimination framework.
Currently, Arizona law does not include gay and trans persons in the protected classes under which discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations is illegal. It’s time for that to change. This bill would make Arizona the 24th state to protect LGBTQ+ residents from discrimination and update state laws to ensure that all Arizonans are treated fairly and equally by the laws of the state. Click here to learn more about HB2625 and how you can help advocate for its passage!
