CEBV Releases — Ballot Measure Guide & Gavel Watch Report

Civic Engagement Beyond Voting (CEBV) has released a must-read review of the ten ballot measures that will be on the ballot. There are 3 really bad constitutional amendments that the Legislature has referred to the ballot that, if passed by voters, will make a deep cut in our state constitutional right to bring initiatives to the ballot. They are basically asking us to restrict our own rights (and in essence gut our Voter Protection Act) to stop bad laws from taking effect, make new laws or amend the state constitution. There is also one really bad voter-suppression legislative initiative (a proposed statute) that is all about ballot elimination.

  • Arouse the frustration and energy needed to make them RUN to the polls
  • Persuade them to look beyond the marquee candidates at the top of the ballot
  • Inform them that state government is responsible for so much in their daily lives–the schools their kids attend, the roads they drive to the grocery store, their freedom to vote and preserve democracy, and women’s right to physical equality.
