Hello NAZCCA Community! We are excited to share a few great presentations with you this month and remind everyone to VOTE (early) in this important upcoming election.  We share a common concern for the escalating climate emergency that will impact us all.  Who we choose to vote for impacts what laws and environmental policies are enacted locally, statewide and nationally. NAZCCA is proud to share stories and events  related to climate change and local action and programs. We encourage you all to become involved in climate activism in your communities. Together, with voting and taking action, we are making a difference for our planet.  Let’s keep it up! Enjoy our October newsletter and please sign up to join our virtual events. Thank you!   UPCOMING EVENTS We have created a page that includes NAZCCA and partner organization events. REGISTER HERE   SPOTLIGHT   Image Vote for Climate! As advocates for the environment, one of the most impactful individual actions we can do is voting. Each one of us has a vital role in shaping a better future — we can no longer have politicians in power who that deny climate change is real and increasingly represent the interests of the fossil fuel industry over the people.   Please spend a moment of your time to quickly check your voter registration: https://my.arizona.vote/PortalList.aspx Outside of mailing it through USPS, you can return your voted ballot by dropping it off at an early voting location in your county or depositing it in a secured ballot drop box in your county. See this Google Map for a list of all ballot drop boxes in Arizona. If you take your mail in ballot to a drop off site, that’s what they consider early voting and your votes will be included in the tabulation on election day.   COMING SOON! We have finished recording and we are excited to say that our first episode of “Arizona Climate Conversations: Stories From Our Backyard”, will be launching in just a couple weeks! Stay tuned! Image NAZCCA’s very own Podcast was made to capture stories of local projects, community based solutions, and initiatives across Arizona. This project will invite viewers into the lives of our dedicated community members, those fighting everyday for climate action. The guest on our first episode tells a compelling story of how he became a climate activist and his advice for others.    HIGHLIGHTS WATCH > SHOE STRIKE VIDEO (This Shoe Strike Video is a collection of photos from around the world ~ Special thanks to Jen Chandler Director of Operations: Elders Climate Action for putting together this video) Image The purpose of the ongoing Global Shoe Strikes is to demand that elected officials at every level of government take immediate action to address the climate crisis and the social and economic impacts of climate change and the covid-19 pandemic.  We need to work together to prevent catastrophic climate-related events like fire tornadoes, hurricanes and extreme drought conditions we’ve recently witnessed throughout local and global communities.  September Shoe Strikes were global as well as local.  Arizona hosted Shoe Strikes or rallies in Flagstaff, Sedona, Cottonwood, Prescott, and Phoenix.  NAZCCA Shoe Strike events collected over 2,000 pairs of shoes.  Prescott donated over 400 pairs of shoes to local charities.  Watch for more climate action events coming this fall and winter.    We would love to hear from you! Reach out to your community organizer if you have any questions, want to find out ways to become more involved, or would like to join one of our Climate Action Teams! #PeoplePower #Grassroots #Organize Image Kari Hull (West Region Organizer): [email protected]   Jenna Ortega (East Region Organizer): [email protected]   Your generosity, no matter how much, truly makes a difference.
