Congratulations to PI’s Immigration Team DACA Fund who were the honored recipient of Granite Peak Universal Unitarian Congregation’s 2020 Tom Pettit award. The $500 will go towards the Team’s continued effort on behalf of local Dreamers and their DACA renewal.
PI’s Immigration team has worked tirelessly since 2017 on behalf of the Quad City’s immigrant community -documented or not. Their civic engagement has included: preparing and distributing Spanish language flyers on Know Your Rights, financial support of deportation detainees and their families, voter outreach, organizing demonstrations and other actions to shed light on inhumane practices at the border, asylum seeker reparations, family sepations, and much more.
The team’s proudest achievement is in supporting our local Dreamers with DACA renewal. To date, through the generosity of our community members they have been able to support 24 Dreamers. They strive to continue this effort in the coming year. The Tom Pettit grant will go a long way in achieving that goal. Thank you GPUU for recognizing the Immigration Team’s amazing efforts.
