School Crisis Red Alert – Feb 18 Report Public Pressure Works – Take Action Today |
TAKE ACTION |
On Monday, the AZ State House of Representatives voted to waive the school spending cap (Aggregate Expenditure Limit) for this 2021-22 school year, ensuring that schools can remain operational for April and May. However, the AZ State Senate has yet to act, throwing local schools, educators, and parents into chaos. A mere 6 business days remain for the majority party to pass this measure and avoid school closures and teacher layoffs. In a stunning display of misplaced priorities, the Arizona legislature advanced 3 separate voucher expansion bills yesterday (SB1657, SB1707, HB2803). Instead of focusing on the looming AEL crisis, lawmakers beholden to special interests remain dead set on passing private school voucher expansion. The agenda is as clear as ever: undermine and then privatize public schools to benefit the few at the expense of the many. We need you to make your voice heard. Can you use our easy email tool to send a quick email to your lawmakers? Just click on the links below: ? YES on lifting the AEL ? We are working around the clock to champion pro-public education bills and to stop voucher expansions in their tracks. This work doesn’t come easy, and it doesn’t come cheap, but we are the largest line of defense against bad education bills in the state and we aren’t backing down. |
