Weekly Redistricting Updates and Action Items |
Hello Maria,
Happy Monday! The following are your weekly redistricting updates and action items.
IRC Updates
- The Commission is now in the draft map development phase. During each mapping meeting, they are creating versions of maps as they move toward a final approved draft map
- The Commission received the following presentations:
- The IRC’s mapping software is available to the public
- You can find training resources HERE
- Explore all the submitted map plans and other resources through the IRC’s Redistricting Hub
- View the Commission’s most recent Newsletter in English and Spanish
Public Comment Guidance
- The Commission has previously announced that they will be holding a third round of public hearings tentatively from November 2nd through the 28th. We urge the IRC to give advance notice of these public hearings. Dates, times and locations should be provided as early as possible so the public can make arrangements to testify on behalf of their communities. Access to these public hearings is critical
Remember to make your comment relevant to you! Submit your comment through the 24/7 portal HERE. Submit your comment during tomorrow’s meeting HERE.
Calls to Action
- We deserve the opportunity to elect people who represent our community, and share our values and background. By participating in the districting process you can influence the way the maps are drawn. Visit OneArizona.org/FairMaps to join a training session and learn how to tell your story!
The next IRC Meeting will be tomorrow, October 19th, at 8 AM. Please find the link to the meeting and the agenda HERE.
We hope this weekly recap, suggestions with public comment and action items will help you remain engaged in the redistricting process.
If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to this email.
Thank you!
